08 Dec Scalp detox | your hair needs detoxification
Scalp detox is a new trend in hair salons. Just as skin needs detoxification, so does the scalp need to be detoxified from time to time. It is a method of massaging the scalp, either with brushes or exfoliation, that helps remove dead skin cells, unclog pores and remove layers of accumulated products from the follicle. This treatment also solves problems such as itching, dandruff and other various irritations.
You need detoxification when you feel that your skin is heavy even after washing – it means that your scalp is not breathing. It is also a good choice when your hair suddenly starts to get oily quickly or when you have any scalp problems. This procedure restores balance and freshness to the scalp, which lasts for a month and a half, and at the same time you feel as if your head is “lighter” – or as if you do not have hair!
How do you know you need detoxification?
Scalp detox is needed when someone has a significant accumulation of hair products on the follicle. Whenever you notice this phenomenon, we recommend detoxification to balance the health of the scalp. “Your scalp is a sensitive area and you can feed it with very few products,” explains Marija Butkovic. You may consider detoxifying your scalp if you have excessive dryness, itching, dandruff, or general scalp discomfort.
“You’ll typically accumulate around the follicles, so it’s almost like you can’t see down there,” Maria says. “Or, we try to do it like for me, every month. Every four to six weeks it’s time for detox.”
How to do a scalp detox at home?
We recommend doing the treatment in a hair salon, but it’s also possible to perform it at home. For starters, introduce the habit of brushing your hair, as continuous combing before going to bed or before showering stimulates the exfoliation process and accelerates hair growth. Then you need to buy a scalp scrub that is applied directly to the scalp and massaged with your fingers. Usually, such products have to stay on for about ten minutes, so consider detoxifying the scalp as a small ritual before taking a shower. The last step is rinsing the hair and applying shampoo and conditioner.
For a healthy scalp, scalp detoxification should be practiced every three months.
